My name is Zaida Nair Arteaga, I am a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist ( LMFT# 136966) in California. I have my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Psychological Trauma Studies from Antioch University Los Angeles. I started my career providing therapy in to survivors of abuse and continue to pursue assisting survivors of trauma to rewrite their stories. I often work with the Latinx community to help emphasize the strengths of our culture and decrease cultural stigmas and expectations that impact our wellbeing. My ideal client may be struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions or cultural stress. I also emphasize how white supremacy, patriarchy, and capitalism place burden and pressure on all of us, which directly impacts our mental health. I always work through a trauma-informed lens, allowing for my client to feel safe, empowered, and lead our work together

I believe it is important to assess how trauma, or any mental health struggle, may be impacting mind and body. We will work toward managing mental, emotional, and physical symptoms and sensations that client's may be struggling with. I work with clients to learn how to understand and process that so much of our mental health is impacted by beliefs that we created long ago. That can include cultural bias, family expectations, or systemic oppression and injustice.
We will explore these themes in session through talk therapy, as well as develop relaxation and grounding to to help build resiliency and calm.
This then allows for us see how our stories were written, and how to begin to build up new and healthier beliefs —to write our stories for ourselves.
I focus on a person-centered, trauma informed approach, bringing in techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Family Systems Therapy.
I provide services via telehealth across the state of California. My individual session rate is $130 per session, and I offer limited sliding scale slots from $120, $110, or $100 for those who may not be able to afford the standard rate. I accept Aetna insurance, Anthem Blue Cross California, Cigna, United Healthcare, Optum, and Oxford.
I accept all major credit cards and all payments are made online through a secure third party payment system.
